Marker types

When you add pins to your map layer, you are able to select the marker icon for the pin. Marker icons can be either default icons provided by District Engage, or custom markers uploaded in the site or project marker library.

Marker types

District Engage allows users to choose between the following marker options:

  • A default marker: A default marker that can be configured in terms of colour and size.

  • Custom marker: An icon uploaded by users in either the site or project marker library. Icons uploaded in these libraries will be available in the marker icon dropdown in the Layer Builder.

Difference between marker library and map survey markers

Marker libraryIcons uploaded in the marker library are available to internal users as icons for descriptive pins added to map layers.

Map survey markersMarkers available to public participants to add feedback to a map in the context of a map survey are uploaded in the Markers Icons field when a map is created or edited in the map library. Click here for more info.
