Marker libraries

District Engage provides two types of marker libraries where custom markers are uploaded. Markers in these libraries will be available to users in the Map Builder when creating a map layer with descriptive pins.

  • Site marker library: Icons uploaded in the site marker library will be available in the Map Builder for any project.

  • Project marker library: Icons uploaded in the project marker library will be available in the Map Builder of that specific project.

Finding your site marker library

To find your site marker library:

  1. While logged in, go to the Settings icon in the top-level navigation.

  2. This will open the site settings tab. Select Markers in the left-hand navigation.

  3. This will provide you with an overview of all site markers.

Finding your project marker library

To find your project marker library:

  1. While logged in, use the top-level menu to navigate to the Project tab.

  2. Select the relevant project from the list. This will open your project overview page.

  3. In the left-hand menu, under Content, click Map library.

  4. This shows all the maps available for this project. Click the Markers tab on the top of the page.

  5. This will provide you with an overview of all project markers.

Adding a marker to the marker library

  1. While logged in, navigate either to your site or project library (see top for instructions).

  2. Click Create Marker.

  3. Provide a Title, Description (optional), and Upload an image.

  4. Click Save. The custom marker will now be available as a marker icon option when adding pins to a map.

Editing a marker in the library

  1. While logged in, navigate either to your site or project library (see top for instructions).

  2. Search for the marker you want to edit in the table, and click on the ellipsis icon. In the dropdown, click Edit.

  3. Update the Title, Description (optional), and Upload an image.

  4. Click Save. The updated custom marker will now be available as a marker icon option when adding pins to a map.

Delete a marker from the library

  1. While logged in, navigate either to your site or project library (see top for instructions).

  2. Search for the marker you want to edit in the table, and click on the ellipsis icon. In the dropdown, click Delete.
    A pop-up window will appear to confirm your action, click Ok to confirm the marker to be deleted.

  3. The marker icon will not longer be available as a marker icon option when adding pins to a map.

Download a marker from the marker library

  1. While logged in, navigate either to your site or project library (see top for instructions).

  2. This will open the site settings tab. Select Markers in the left-hand navigation.

  3. Search for the marker you want to edit in the table, and click on the ellipsis icon. In the dropdown, click Download.

  4. The marker icon download will automatically start.
